Description
Yomotsu-Shikome is a figure registered in the Kokugakuin University Classical Cultures Project Shinmei Database. According to the database, the name is cited from the Kojiki (712 CE), upper scroll, in the passage on the Land of Yomi. In the narrative, the hag (or hags) of Yomi is dispatched by Izanami to pursue Izanagi as he flees the underworld, and is delayed by peaches thrown at the Yomotsu Hirasaka slope. The Nihon Shoki (720 CE) preserves a parallel account. IZANORA records the figure with the Yomi-passage citation as the anchor and adds relations to Izanagi, Izanami, and the Yomotsu Hirasaka boundary.
