Description
The Hata Clan (秦氏) is a Japanese clan recorded in the classical genealogical sources of Japan. In the Shinsen Shōjiroku (815 CE) and related lineage chronicles, the clan is classified as foreign-origin (Shoban). The lineage is traditionally associated with Yamashiro (modern southern Kyoto Prefecture) and Kawachi (modern eastern Osaka Prefecture) during the ancient period. Lineage records appear in classical chronicles, shrine genealogies, and provincial gazetteers. See the Japanese-language page for the full lineage record, member registry, and citation list.
