Description
Kamimusubi-no-Kami (神産巣日神) is one of the Three Creator Deities (zoka-sanshin) recorded in the Kojiki (712 CE) and Nihon Shoki (720 CE). At the beginning of heaven-and-earth, the deity emerged in the High Plain of Heaven as a solitary deity together with Ame-no-Minakanushi and Takamimusubi, and stands at the node between creator deities and the Izumo myth cycle. According to the Kojiki upper scroll, in the Okuninushi chapters, when Okuninushi was burned to death by the eighty deities, the deity dispatched Kisagaihime and Umugaihime in response to his mother's plea, restoring him to life. The deity acknowledged Sukunabikona-no-Kami as "my child" and instructed Okuninushi to undertake nation-building with him. Child is Sukunabikona-no-Kami. Venerated at Tokyo Daijingu in Chiyoda, Izumo Daijingu in Kameoka, and Kamosu Shrine in Matsue.
