Nesaku-no-Kami is a sword-blood deity of Kojiki (712 CE) born when Izanagi slew Kagutsuchi, paired with Iwasaku-no-Kami.

Description

Nesaku-no-Kami is recorded in Kojiki (712 CE) Upper Volume. The name reads nesaku, the cleaving of roots, indicating the sword-power that severs to the base. He is one of the deities born from the cluster of sword-and-blood deities that arose when Izanagi-no-Mikoto, in grief at the death of Izanami from the birth of Kagutsuchi, struck down Kagutsuchi with the ten-grasp sword Ame-no-Ohabari. The deity-making passage records that when blood from the tip of the sword splashed onto crowding rocks, three deities arose: Iwasaku-no-Kami, Nesaku-no-Kami and Iwatsutsu-no-O-no-Kami. No father, mother, consort or children are recorded; the deity is the personification of the sword's severing power. Sibling deities born from the base of the blade are Mikahayahi-no-Kami, Hihayahi-no-Kami and Takemikazuchi-no-O-no-Kami, and from the hilt are Kura-Okami-no-Kami and Kura-Mitsuha-no-Kami, eight deities of sword and water in all.
