A heavenly kami (amatsukami) recorded in the *Kojiki* and *Nihon Shoki*, born of the covenant between Amaterasu-no-Omikami and Susanoo-no-Mikoto. Father of Ninigi-no-Mikoto and an important node in the imperial lineage, though he declined the role of leading the heavenly descent to the earthly realm.
