Amenikishi-Kuninikishi-Amatsuhitaka-Hikoho-no-Ninigi-no-Mikoto

Amenikishi-Kuninikishi-Amatsuhitaka-Hikoho-no-Ninigi-no-Mikoto is the formal Kojiki name of the heavenly deity commonly called Ninigi-no-Mikoto. Kojiki (712 CE, upper volume, Tenson Korin section) records that the descent was originally to be undertaken by his father Ame-no-Oshihomimi-no-Mikoto but was transferred to Ninigi. Bearing the Three Sacred Treasures (Yata-no-Kagami mirror, Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi sword, and Yasakani-no-Magatama jewel) and attended by the Five Itsutomo-no-O (Omoikane, Ame-no-Koyane, Futodama, Ame-no-Uzume, and Tamanooya) as well as the warrior deities Ame-no-Oshihi and Amatsu-Kume, he descended to 'the Kushi-furu-take peak of Takachiho in Hyuga of Tsukushi.' Nihon Shoki (720 CE, Jindai-ge, ninth-segment alternate texts) provides multiple parallel accounts. His father is Ame-no-Oshihomimi, mother Takuhata-Chiji-hime, and grandmother Amaterasu Omikami. He wed Konohanasakuya-hime and fathered Hoderi (Umisachi), Hosuseri, and Hoori (Yamasachi); through Hoori's grandson Emperor Jinmu, he stands at the origin of the imperial line. Principal places of veneration are Kirishima Jingu in Kirishima, Kagoshima; Takachiho Shrine in Miyazaki; and Nitta Shrine in Satsumasendai, Kagoshima.
